Bringing Charlie and her friends out of her world and into ours has been an absolute privilege. Through every phase of this first volume I've tried to ensure a terrific experience for readers of a broad range of interests and reading levels. Always trying to ensure it had a cinematic feel which would be fun for casual readers but have depth for those who like to dig in. I often joked while writing, that "that one deep diver on Reddit will really appreciate this touch." But more, where Charlie's world crosses over with real world identities and ideologies, I've tried to show authenticity and care. We live in a world where people can seem to rarely agree, but I'd like to think we could one day live in one where even when we disagree, we can treat one another with dignity and respect.
